In the Chinese version, the story is split into 5 books.
The first book, titled “Blood Rain Reaching Towards a Flower”, covers the first 60 chapters of the book and Xie Lian’s and Hua Cheng’s first interactions together. It includes the Mount Yu Jun arc, where Xie Lian solves the crime of the infamous “Ghost groom”, the Ban Yue Pass Arc, where a character from Xie Lian’s past is introduced, the Ghost City Rescue Arc, in which Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan go undercover into Hua Cheng’s territory to save Ming Yi, and the Guilded banquet Arc, where Xie Lian’s relation with the kingdom of Yong’An is revealed.
The second book, titled “The God-Pleasing Crown Prince” covers chapter 61-91 and focuses on Xie Lian’s more recent past. It includes the Pre-ascension arc which narrates Xie Lian’s life as a Xianle royal, the Pre-War arc, whose name is pretty self-explanatory, the Yong’An Rebellion arc, in which the royal family of the kingdom of Yong’An decided to overthrow the Xianle kingdom during its decline, and the Fall of Xianle arc which is the follow-up of the previous chapters.
The third book, and by fat the longest, is called “No paths are bound” which is a phrase with narrative storytelling and covers chapters 92-183 split into 5 arcs. It starts with the Autumn Banquet arc, which circles again around Xie Lian’s and Hua Cheng’s relationship, then the Fetus Spirit arc which focuses more on Feng Xin and his past relationship and his child. Following these two comes one of the most important arcs in the novel, the black water arc, circling around He Xuan’s backstory and how his relationship with Shi Qingxuan fell apart brutally. Next up is the immortal brocade arc, which is small and not significant to the story, but what follows is the biggest arc in the whole novel, the Mount Tonglu arc, which covers 65 chapters of the book and significant plot points.
The fourth book, named “White-Clothed Calamity”, focuses again on Xie Lian’s backstory, but specifically after his banishment from the heavens. It narrates his time spent as a calamity, and how he deals with the grief of losing his loved ones, his kingdom and his way of life.
Last but not least, the fifth book, named “Heaven Officials’ Blessing” is split into 6 arcs. Starting with Jun Wu’s Identity Reveal arc, followed by the Battle The Demonic Fortress arc in which the main characters are faced against the main antagonist, and then the In the Palace of WuYong arc, in which the battle continues. Lastly, we have the Final Battle arc which includes the climax of the fight, and the Aftermath arc, which puts an end to our story.
