Sana Bakkoush

Season 4

This season's main character is the beautiful, badass, softie... Sana. Sana is apart of the main friend group (as I like to call it) so she is basically friends with Eva, Noora and the other 2 girls in the group (Chris and Vilde). Sana lives with her parents and brother and they are all Muslims. In this season, I think that we mostly see her experience a lot of love (platonic and romantic) but also pain and we also see her make some really questionable choices (take that as you will)...

This season is similar to the other seasons structurally (as mentioned earlier) so I don't have anything to add regarding structure. But as with season three, I think that season four also has like a "core topic" (which is not bad at all, it's amazing) which in this case is religion (obviously that is not the only thing in the show but yes). We see Sana in this season sometimes struggle with her faith and question things, we see her have conversations about religion with people that don't believe in god etc. Something that I think is amazing because while you watch the show you educate yourself a bit and learn some things about Islam. Also, get a pack of tissues because this season is so sweet and sad at times that it literally makes you cry (like they are literally fighting with season three over who is sadder). And lastly, I just want to say here that although this is Sana's season, the last episode of the show (4x10) is from the pov's of the side characters (Vilde, Chris, Jonas, Chris, Even, William, Eskild and Linn).

Sana's Character

In every season before this one Sana is seen as this super stiff, cool and badass character, which she 100% is but while watching this season, we get to see so much more than that. We see her experience a ton of different emotions and in that way, we see the little soft side she has. I think that, that is one of the amazing things about Skam... You know all the characters from the beginning of the show but you never really know them as deeply as you get to know them into their own season, which is how it also is with people in real life (no one really knows you as well as you know yourself).

Another thing about Sana is that she is the sort of person that quite often seeks revenge for things (she also has a few anger issues), putting herself in pretty unfortunate situations. But by the end of the season, she realizes the mistakes she has made and she tries to make herself better and make things right, which I think is what we should all be doing (I know I have probably said this like 20 times, but I just think that it is extremely important).

And lastly, I have seen many people saying that she is good muslim representation and I just think that that's amazing, because everyone should be rightly represented in the media etc.
